Katie Murphy

Katherine Murphy (also known as Katie) has worked with children for the past 14 years. She has worked in the Holyoke Public Schools as a permanent Substitute, a Special Ed. Paraprofessional, and a Special Ed. Middle School Teacher before landing the job at People's Institute in 2017 as Toddler Teacher. Katie has a bachelor's degree and a Masters in elementary education and has gone back to take courses to certify her through EEC as a toddler teacher. Katie enjoys and always has enjoyed working with children (of all ages) and their families! 

Katie has a son of her own (who also attends PI) and she has a new beagle mix puppy. Katie enjoys reading mysteries, romance, and all children’s books. She enjoys doing any type of arts and crafts with the children. Even if the children get a little messy but they are enjoying doing a project then she is up for the task! Katie enjoys cooking, baking, and loves spending time with her family: mom, dad, her older sister, 2 nieces and soon to be brother in law, and her younger brother. Katie’s favorite holidays are Easter and St. Patrick’s Day. Since she enjoys walking and running, you might see her running in the St. Patrick’s Day Road Race in Holyoke, or around Northampton! Katie also loves soccer and has coached in the Holyoke Youth Soccer League for several years.
